Sisters claim medals at Carib cycling champs
Sisters Deanna and Kim McMullen picked up a silver and two bronze medals between them at the women?s Caribbean Cycling Championships in Hatillo, Puerto Rico over the weekend.
In Saturday?s time trial, some 60 miles west of San Juan, Deanna averaged over 23 miles per hour for the 16.6 mile course to grab the bronze while Kim placed fourth.
Then in yesterday?s road race over 82 kilometres, Deanna raced to the silver with Kim claiming the bronze.
Bermuda have traditionally done well in the Caribbean Championships with Lynn Patchett winning a gold and silver in 2005, and Patchett and Deanna McMullen taking gold and silver respectively in 2004.
Also competing over the weekend in the inaugural junior boys? 14-16 age group were Thomas Godfrey, Tim Fox and Philip Woolridge, although they failed to get among the medals.
