Dear Sir,
On behalf of the 2006 Swatch FIVB U-19 World Championships, we would like to thank the the Hon. Walter Lister, Adam Barboza of Bermuda Department of Tourism, Lisa LeBlanc and Bill Bucci of Bermuda Volleyball Association, Steve Marklew and staff of Total Marketing & Communications, and especially the hundreds of volunteers and beach volleyball fans whose great assistance made the event happen.
Despite the presence of the Hurricane Florence, the volleyball community of Bermuda worked tirelessly to welcome athletes from 22 countries around the world to this important international event. As we crowned champions from Germany and Australia, we felt that this was also a crowning achievement for Bermuda volleyball.
Special thanks to the team of Ian Bucci and Matthew Sinclair who represented the host territory of Bermuda in their first-ever Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) world class event. When they stepped on the court for their first match, they became part of the world?s largest sports federation, and part of the most popular summer Olympic sport.
Congratulations to Bermuda for hosting a successful 2006 Swatch FIVB U-19 World Championships, and thank you for your kind hospitality for all of the many international volleyball officials, delegates, players and spectators who traveled to Bermuda from around the world for this magnificent event.
Kind Regards,
