Members of the public who wish to nominate somebody for recognition at the 2006 Sports Awards have until December 15 to do so.

The 26th annual Sports Awards will take place at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on February 15 next year, though the Ministry of Youth and Sport has set the deadline early to allow the Sports Awards committee plenty of time to make their decisions.

As usual, the most anticipated prizes of the night will be the Male and Female Athletes of the Year — but there will also be a wide range of other athletes and sports administrators honoured with achievement awards.

The committee which makes the decisions is chaired by the recently-appointed Director of Youth and Sport Norbert Simons and also includes Mike Cherry, Mike Sharpe, Debbie Jones-Hunter, Wendell Smith, Cal Simons, Colin Thompson and Judy Simons.
