Squash vets place third
Bermuda's veteran squash players came away from the Senior Caribbean Championships with a splendid third place finish. The competition featured the top talent in the region and the Island's entrants finished behind Jamaica and Barbados.
On Saturday the team of Denise Kyme, Kirk Caza and Phil Spencer beat the Bahamas 2-1 to secure the position.
Kyme opened the match in fine style dismissing Pat Burns without conceding a point, 9-0, 9-0, 9-0.
Spencer was next up against Joe Johnson. Although the match was tight, Spencer went down 9-5, 10-8, 9-4.
In the final game Caza played Stanley Pratt and won 9-2, 9-2, 10-9 after a hard-fought final game.
"I would say if anything we finished better (than expected)," said Kyme on returning to the Island. "Guyana are a very tough team and we didn't know what to expect from them. So the win against them at the beginning was really good for us. Some of the southern countries we haven't played for about 15 years so it was a bit of a guess. So I think we can be very happy with the third place."
