Dick Stimets will be defending his title at the Mid Ocean Club's Mens Invitation Tournament which begins on Monday.

The qualifying round of the event starts at 7.30 a.m. when Blake Marshall, Ian Fulton and Mark Oldham tee off in the Junior Division.

The tournament is open to members of the club as well as invited guests and involves Championship flights of 16 in both the Junior and Senior Divisions.

The Juniors play for the Archie Compston Bowl, while the seniors battle it out for the Charles Blair McDonald Bowl.

A tournament spokesman said: "In light of recent events we are heartened to have attracted so many players from overseas.

"Dick Stimets will be defending his title in the Senior Division but the title in the Junior Division is up for grab. Blake Marshall, our club champion is a strong contender."

The competition runs until Friday.
