Warwick's Dion Stovell struck a whirlwind 182 but Devonshire's skipper Anthony Amory responded with a fierce 115 not out to lead his team to a five-wicket victory in yesterday's lone First Division game which was played at Devonshire Rec.

Although young Stovell snatched man of the match honours with his batting, slamming seven sixes and 23 fours to lead Warwick to their formidable total, it wasn't sufficient to steer his team to victory.

Stovell and Daniel Caines (25) put on 152 for the second wicket and then the former teamed up with Allan Douglas Jr. (19) to add 95 for the third wicket.

Stovell reached his ton off 128 balls and was at the crease for 196 minutes for his 182, which came off a total of 184.

No bowler took more than one wicket for Devonshire, opener Winston Trott having the best figures of one for 41 off eight overs with two maidens.

Amory, though, proved that he was determined not to let the result slip away despite having to face a high score. He led Devonshire in reply with a spirited knock after opening the innings and losing fellow opener Omar Amory (six) and Caldon Grimes (nought) with 40 runs scored.

Amory found a suitable partner in Ricardo Brangman who stroked 59 with a six and nine fours while Winston Trott partnered him to victory, not out on 36.

Amory finished having hit four sixes and 13 fours.

Opener Robert Richardson was the best bowler with three wickets for 68 runs off ten overs with one maiden.
