Two senior players came off the bench in the second half to rally their teams in this Premier Division clash at St. John's Field yesterday.

Colts' Aljame Zuill and Town's Paul Cann wasted little time in showing their fellow forwards, who had been grossly inept throughout the first half, their finishing prowess in a game that rarely reached the standard one might have expected from two teams in the upper half of the table.

At the end of an undistinguished contest, they walked away with a share of the spoils which was probably only fair.

Zuill brought delight to his team-mates and fans, ending a run of frustration that saw several attacks fizzle out, when he put Colts ahead after 60 minutes.

Coming off the bench for Clevon Hill after 49 minutes, Zuill, making his first appearance since being involved in a road accident over six weeks ago, latched onto a cross from deep in Colts half and coolly drilled home a shot from an angle on the left as he advanced into the box.

But Cann cancelled out that advantage 10 minutes later when he snatched the equaliser after coming on as a replacement for Kevin Hurdle after 63 minutes.

Cann, surprisingly left unmarked in the middle, gratefully accepted a cross from the left and hit home from about 15 yards to level the scores after 70 minutes.

Zuill should have put Colts ahead 2-0 three minutes before Cann came into the picture. However, he lost his footing as he hurried a cross from Quincy Aberdeen when in position to score.

The only clear-cut chance during the first 45 minutes came after 10 minutes when Colts saw a header by centre-back McKonnen Hollis from an Aberdeen corner scrambled off the goal-line as it appeared to be heading into the back of goal.

On two occasions in the second half opportunities fell to Janeiro Tucker, who along with fellow striker Darron Simons, was often left stranded upfield.

After 58 minutes Tucker headed a Lloyd Christopher cross over from close range and followed up two minutes later by firing a left-footed shot over the bar after taking a cross from hard-working centre back Kingsley Mundy.

When it was all over the expressions on the faces of both teams told it all - neither were happy with their performance, but both satisfied not to have come away empty handed.
