Swim masters reap 10 gold
Bermuda is enjoying the sweet scent of success after three days at the Latin /Caribbean Masters Swimming Championships, currently underway in Costa Rica.
Bermuda have secured 22 medals, with 10 of the preferred gold variety, and look to enjoy more success in the coming days.
Cashing in on gold were brothers Chris and Mike Cash, both of whom reaped success in the 800 metres freestyle, in which the Island came away with four gold medals and a silver, all five entrants making it to the podium.
Aside from the Cash brothers, Duncan Newby and Chris Smith likewise found the head of the podium, while Geoff Gardner snatched second place in his race.
Annette Budge and Smith have been the top performers to date, each having claimed three first place finishes, while Karen Bruton also has one, coming from the 100 metres breaststroke."The results have been excellent, considering the pool is just freezing, and we're swimming at altitude," said Newby.
Meanwhile, Bermuda have not been able to translate the swimming success to water polo, where Bermuda's ramshackle squad of pure swimmers were hammered by Costa Rica on Monday, and are likely to be further chastened when they face Dominican Republic.
