Team-work the key says skipper Sammy

St.David?s captain Sammy Robinson said his side?s ability to overcome the odds and defeat rivals Bailey?s Bay in their own backyard hinged upon one key factor ? team work.

Robinson, who also led the Islanders to victory over Bay last August, picked up his second Eastern Counties win in the role as captain.

Along with Arthur Pitcher jr, Robinson (19) carried St. David?s to victory via an unbroken 55 run sixth-wicket partnership in only 9.5 overs.

?We really came together and played as one for a common goal. And when you achieve this only good things can happen. And I thank God for allowing all of this to happen,? Robinson told with twin sister and team scorer Samantha beside him.

Reflecting upon Bay?s innings, Robinson explained: ?We really had to be patient and wait for the chances. Unfortunately we didn?t take a couple of them, but we didn?t lose our heads and persevered. And that?s what you have to do because it only takes one ball to get a wicket.?

Once Bay declared, Robinson urged his batsmen to also apply patience at the crease.

?We knew we had to be patient and put away the bad balls when they came and also get as many singles as possible,? he added.

?But we have mature players as well as youngsters and I had faith in everybody?s ability to get the job done ? and we got it done.

?I don?t think we were really troubled during our innings despite losing a couple of early wickets. I never worried myself and I always knew the people around me were capable of completing the job.?
