Willow Cuts? teenage seamer Kavon Fubler proved to be a big hit in Toronto.

The 14-year-old left arm bowler claimed a combined four wickets for 49 runs in two appearances during his club?s ten-day tour of the big city, and in doing so captured the respect of cricketers twice his age.

?Kavon has really impressed everyone over here with his bowling and overall this has been a very good experience for him,? stated Cuts manager Andre Scott, speaking from Toronto.

?They (Canadians) have a lot of quality coaches up here and they were really surprised at how Kavon bowls for a youngster.?

Fubler, son of Cuts veteran off spinner Kevin Fubler, claimed two for 21 and two for 28 respectively in a losing cause during back-to-back fixtures against Malton CC.

And for his efforts Fubler was rewarded by being photographed with legendary West Indies Test bowler Courtney Walsh and batsman Larry Gomes.

?They were really impressed by young Kavon,? Scott added.

Cuts lost all three matches on tour, beginning with a two-wicket defeat against Malton in a rain-affected match.

Guest player Freston Hurdle (18) and Sheroy Fubler (12) topped the Cuts batting. Hurdle then joined forces with young Fubler to share four wickets.

Cuts, the current Western Counties champions, then lost their second match by 92 runs, again to Malton.

High scorer on that occasion was Jermaine Trott (12) while team skipper Reggie Tucker (two for 18) led Cuts bowling.

The tourists suffered a six-wicket defeat in their third and final match earlier this week against a Canada District and Cricket Association XI.

Veteran batsman Dexter Basden (30) topped the scoring while Bergon Spencer made 29. Off spinner Kevin Fubler grabbed four wickets for 22 runs ? the best performance by a Cuts bowler on tour.

Despite not winning a single game on tour, manager Scott dubbed the venture a ?smashing success?.

?It was a very good experience for some of our players touring for the first time,? Scott said. ?And I really think the players will have learned a lot, especially with their bowling.?

?I feel as though we should?ve won at least one match. But I think we never adjusted our mind set.?
