Thompson in line for youth soccer post?
North Village technical director Kenny Thompson is believed to be the man the Bermuda Football Association are set to name as their new Director of Youth Development.
BFA Technical Committee chairman Robert Calderon admitted someone had been selected for the post but was reluctant to part company with the identity of the successful applicant.
"We (the technical committee) have already agreed on a candidate," he said. "The candidate is now looking at our job description even closer and when that person signs on the dotted line we will then disclose the name of the successful applicant to the public at large."
He said the successful candidate may be unveiled next week.
"What we do intend to do is send out a press release once the successful applicant has viewed everything that we have to offer - hopefully all of this will be completed by Monday at the very latest."
A source close to the Association, who wished to remain anonymous, also confirmed that BFA executives had approved recommendations from the Technical Committee with regard to the man they wanted.
"They (BFA executives) had a meeting on Wednesday night where whoever was selected was approved," revealed the source. "I don't know what the hold up is all about - maybe they've decided to wait until Larry (Mussenden, BFA president) returns from overseas."
Mussenden is away with the Bermuda Regiment in the Caribbean.
It has been rumoured that Thompson has been given the nod for the new post over former PHC coach Alfred Eve and Atlanta Silverbacks' head coach Brett Mosen.
However, Calderon stuck to his guns.
"Someone is trying to put two and two together and coming up with way more than they probably should," Calderon said. "I don't know where that announcement came from. It didn't come from us."
