The administrative issue of who will lead local soccer over the next four years settled, action now turns to the pitch and the players, writes Patrick Bean.

Reigning Premier Division champions Dandy Town and FA Cup winners Devonshire Colts are set to raise the curtain on the new season tomorrow night when they clash in the Charity Cup at BAA Field (8 p.m.).

Town suffered a major loss in the transfer market with the departure of hit-man Raymond Beach for Devonshire Cougars, and also had midfielder Kuma Smith move on, but have compensated with the additions of attackers Janeiro Tucker, Rodney Bascome, Travis Wilkinson and McLee Smith.

It will be interesting to seejust how much coach Andrew Bascome is willing to tinker with what ended as a winning formula at St. John's Road, however, if there is indeed any stage to experiment with line-up alterations, the Charity Cup is the place to do it.

Colts enter the contest fresh from a recent tour of Florida, where they took the opportunity to train in preparation for the season, as well as allow for the bonding of players.

The Devonshire side will though enter as underdogs, considering the ransacking their squad took in the off-season.

Gone is chief scoring threat Marvin Belboda, who decided it best to head west to Somerset, while veteran defensive midfielder Jahmah Samuels, along with Vic Ball and Melchisedec Gibbons also left in search of greener pastures elsewhere. Still, there remains a solid rock in the form of Shannon Burgess, Colts' captain and inspirational leader.

Tomorrow's opening encounter will see the women taking centre stage, with Rude Girls battling Hemisphere Royals.
