Dandy Town have unearthed a hidden talent in defender-turned-forward Chris Anderson.

Anderson, who has featured in his team?s defence for the past several seasons, proved last Saturday night that he also possesses the Midas touch in attack by scoring a brace during Hornets 5-2 Martonmere Cup win over Blazers.

He also baffled his markers with some wizardry whenever in possession of the ball, and opened gaping holes in the Blazers? defence to provide his fellow team-mates with clearer looks at goal.

Now Hornets are hoping Anderson can extend his fine early season form at BAA Field tonight against Somerset Trojans in a match to determine Martonmere Cup Group B winners.

Last season?s inaugural Champions Cup champions are also expected to be reunited with veteran campaigner Carlos Smith, and it should be very interesting to see how he links up with newcomer Michael Parsons and workhorse Lashun Dill.

Parsons, who transferred from Boulevard during the off-season, came back to haunt his old club by also finding his way to goal on two occasions during Hornets comfortable opening Martonmere Cup win over Blazers.

Another forward, Seyoum Tuzo, could also make his first appearance for Hornets tonight.

Town edged Trojans 3-2 at Somerset Cricket Club the last time these two clubs met.

Trojans, meanwhile, have sat idle since their 6-1 thrashing over Blazers on September 10.

But according to club sources, the West Enders have kept sharp in practice and are very much looking forward to reversing their fortunes against a team that have enjoyed the better of them in recent times.

Trojans are again pinning their hopes on Stephen Astwood, who notched the season?s first hat-trick against Blazers, and Lamual Crofton to deliver the goods up front along with stability in midfield from overnight sensation Terry Sousa and team captain Jelani Scott ? whose quiet approach to the game is a striking resemblance to that of former Somerset maestro George Brangman.

Trojans newly-acquired sweeper Sean Simmons ? nephew of late Trojan great Richard (Dirt) Simmons ? should expect a tougher night out on the town this time around against Hornets? Wolde Place, Jared Peniston, Ottis Steede, Smith and Anderson.

In tonight?s second match, cup holders North Village Rams need only take at a point off Devonshire Cougars to advance through to the semis along with their nearby Group A rivals who themselves require a sole point to clinch the group outright.

This eagerly-awaited contest could also see the return of three of the Island?s most exciting young players, Cougars? Domico Coddington and Heys Wolfe and Rams? Jemeiko Jennings.

Rams, however, could be without former captain Ralph Bean Jr who was injured during his team?s 2-2 draw with PHC last weekend.

Zebras, who have already completed their two Group A matches, can only advance to the final four if Cougars defeat Rams by two clear goals.

Rams edged Cougars 4-3 earlier this month to win a fourth straight Charity Cup and equal Zebras? record for most consecutive wins.
