Training bonus for golden King

World Youth Champion long jumper Arantxa King has been given $5,750 by the Sports Ministry to help her with her training.

Sports Minister Dale Butler hosted a lunch reception for King, who also won a gold in the Pan-Am Junior Championships in Canada, to honour for her performance in the IAAF World Youth Championships, held in Marrakech, Morocco, last month.

At the reception, Butler gave the Bermuda Track and Field Association association the cheque to go towards King?s training, equipment, travel and any other needs.

On behalf of King, her parents, Branwen ? a former Carifta athlete ? and Adrian King ? a former Cup Match cricketer ? BTFA president Judy Simmons expressed sincere thanks to the Ministry for acknowledging the 15-year-old?s achievement with the incentive award.
