Somerset Bridge 170, Willow Cuts 173-2

An unbeaten 145 run third wicket partnership between veteran Dexter Basden (80) and deputising skipper Reggie Tucker Jr (59) steered Willow Cuts to an emphatic eight-wicket triumph over Somerset Bridge at White Hill Field yesterday.

After losing the early wickets of Steven Mendes (two) and Kevin Fubler (nought), Basden and Tucker took matters into their own hands and together set about frustrating the Bridge attack.

Basden cracked nine fours and a six during his top unbeaten knock while, in equally devastating fashion, Tucker decorated the scoreboard with eight fours.

Denzil Dill (one for 32) managed to grab one of only two Cuts wickets to fall on the day, while Mendes was run out.

Earlier, young Bergon Spencer (five for 50) kept Bridge on the defensive, while veteran Kevin Fubler grabbed two for 27 and both Mendes and Terrence Parsons seized one wicket apiece.

Ryane Sheppard topped the Bridge batting with a patient 53 which contained one four and a six, while Nakia Smith chipped in with a useful 36 that included just two fours.

Cuts achieved their target in just 35.5 overs in a match that was reduced to 44 overs as the game was late getting underway.
