Wade hits a double to put an end to Hood's proud record

Two lethal blows from the boot of veteran striker Damon Wade and a Kenneth Bartram insurance goal saw North Village Rams bring Robin Hoods' previously unblemished league record to a screeching halt in an impressive 3-1 win at Bernard Park during Commercial A Division action on Saturday.

Rams, who had yet to square off against their high-flying rivals after the two team's opening fixture was called off due to inclement conditions, wasted little time setting about Hood, and took full advantage of playing on familiar terrain.

The home side scored all three goals during a pulsating opening half in which David Wolffe pulled one back for Hood.

Despite dropping four points in their last two outings, Hood still enjoy a comfortable 11 point lead at the summit while Rams remain third.

Continuing their fine form of late, second-placed Tuff Dogs spanked relegation bound Prison Officers 7-1 at Malabar.

Kevin Mooney fired in a spectacular hat-trick while Joe Corrolo ably assisted with a fine pair of his own.

Nathan Brown and Dennis Musson rounded off the rout which also saw Officers concede their hundredth goal. Millett Rawlins scored the home team's consolation.

MR Onions firmly held onto fourth spot with a hard earned 2-1 win over Lobster Pot at Shelly Bay Field. There was no further information on this match.

Elsewhere in A Division action, Key West Rangers recorded their seventh win of the season after edging by Vasco Mariners 3-2 during a see-saw affair at St.John's Field.

Rangers stormed into an early lead when Richard Wilson converted in the 11th minute. However, the home team's joy was short-lived, Joe Barrosso equalising for the visitors seven minutes later.

However, it only took 60 seconds for Rangers to regain the lead courtesy of a Peter Rickards strike.

Midway through the second-half, Mariners again drew level with their hosts thanks to a Stuart Smith tally before Rangers veteran player Earl Richardson finally settled matters with a late winner.

BAA Wanderers and St.George's All-Stars battled to a 1-1 draw at BAA Field.

The home team forged ahead in the 30th minute on the back of a Jahmall Mills strike but All-Stars found themselves back on even keel on the stroke of half-time when Lionel Cann breached the home team's defence.

In B Division action, second-placed Devonshire All-Stars failed to make up ground on idle leaders PHC Raiders who had the weekend off.

All-Stars had top poacher Kenny Dill to thank as it was his two strikes which saw his team grab a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw against Pest Control at Southampton Oval. Troy Crockwell and Kenneth Francis had earlier given

the home team a 2-1 advantage.

During another entertaining contest, Prospect/Fire outscored Somerset Extros 4-3 at Somerset Cricket Club. Neil Tunnacliffe bagged a superb hat-trick for the visitors while Allen Wilkinson also managed to get on the scoresheet. Extros replied through goals from Wallace, Everette Wellman and Edgar Smith.

Over at neighbouring White Hill Field, for the second weekend in succession Somerset Eagles were awarded maximum points after their opponents Wolves Pack showed up short of players.

Like Eagles and All-Stars, Valley also moved on to 24 points after handing Dockyard Falcons a 4-0 drubbing at Shelly Bay, where Jonathan Eve feasted heartily up front - bagging all four of his team's goals.

Commercial action takes a short break this weekend and will resume on March 1.
