We're flying high, I'm still on the bench

We are still sitting near the top of the table - which is good. I am still not playing - which is not so good.

It is certainly a lot easier to bear not being in the side when we are doing so well. Of course, it's frustrating, but it is a lot more acceptable when the team are flying high.

There is a positive atmosphere around the club at the moment although it is far too early to be talking about promotion or play-offs.

In tribute to us being top of the league, the local paper did a big cut-out of all the players - that was really nice but it is only the fans and the media who are getting excited. The players are far too experienced to start getting silly about our position in the league - it is just too early in the season.

For me it is still a case of waiting for my chance and seeing what happens, but one thing is for sure - I am the best striker in training.

I can't stop scoring goals. There is a good bit of banter among the strikers and we have little competitions to see who can score the most in practice. Normally we just play for a Mars bar or the loser will get tea for everyone.

It would be fair to say I have had a few cups of tea made for me - but then again I do know everyone else's order quite well.

It is quite strange sometimes because even though I am not among the first-choice strikers, the other lads still call me the ‘Legend'.

They are young lads, and I have been around for a while so they say things like ‘the Legend does this' or the ‘Legend is doing that' - it is just a shame that the Legend is on the bench all the time.

I scored a couple of goals again for the reserves, this time against MK Dons. It is good to throw a reminder out there to the boss that I can produce the goods when asked.

Obviously scoring for the reserves is not the same as doing it for the first team - and we don't get the goal bonuses. If they paid bonuses for scoring for the reserves, I don't think they'd let me play!

They have been working us pretty hard in training recently but a sport scientist has decided that for the international break, we should have four days off.

Normally we never get more than two days off at a time, so everyone is looking forward to the break. We have been doing well in the league and training hard, so everyone thinks they deserve it and are looking forward to it.

Some of the boys are going off to New York and Paris although I am planning a day playing tourist with the family in London.

It's a pity there is no international football for Bermuda because I would have happily come back and played but it should be great to get a break for a few days.

It's a shame more lads haven't been turning out for training for the national team. But that is typical of Bermuda and I don't think it is anything to worry about.

It is only early days and I'm sure once people realise what Kyle is trying to do, the word will spread quickly and a lot of the lads will be there.

Good news travels fast and when the players understand what good it will do them training for Kyle with the national squad, then they will all be coming out.
