Williams eyes Games spot
Tamika Williams has moved one step closer to realising her dream of participating in the Commonwealth Games in Manchester this summer.
Williams ran 2:07.10 in the 800 metres in the University/Open women's event at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, California, last weekend. She placed second in her heat and third overall.
The Bermudian's times have improved steadily since March when she clocked 2:10.62 and 2:08.60 at the Stanford Invitational and the Johnny Mathis Invitational where she placed first.
Williams needs to meet the qualifying mark of 2:06.00 to make the Island's team for Manchester in July. Along with Ashley Couper, she is training with the Nike Farm Team, a post-collegiate track team which includes some top American runners, and the Reebok Enclave.
