Wolves and Colts advance to last eight
Wolves and St. George?s Colts advanced to the quarter-finals of the First Division Shield competition after edging Hamilton Parish and X Roads respectively by the odd-goal at BAA Field on Tuesday night.
In the night?s opener, Parish? veteran striker Irving Burgess put the Hot Peppers ahead after only ten minutes.
But after holding onto their slim lead at the half, the Parish defence finally caved in four minutes into the second half when Gary Adams levelled the scores.
The match then went into extra time after the two teams remained deadlocked at the end of regulation.
And just when it appeared penalty kicks would ultimately have to decide the match, Torry Davis netted Wolves? winner directly from a corner kick.
The night?s second match involving East Enders X Roads and St.George?s Colts also required extra-time to determine a winner.
X Roads went ahead through a Nashon Smith goal in the 68th minute only for Colts to draw level ten-minutes later through Ricki Dickinson.
Under-20 national team footballer Jade Foggo missed a golden opportunity in the first period of extra time to put Colts ahead from the penalty spot. But X Roads? ?keeper Garon Dowling was equal to the task.
However, there would be no denying St. George?s during the second period of added time as Detroy Smith converted to carry his team-mates through to the next round.
