Woodley, Simons unbeaten heading into series finale

This season?s KPMG Junior Running Series will wind up with the Bermuda Pacers track meet on April 9 at the National Sports Centre ? the last of the five events in the series.

Winton Woodley junior has a perfect score to date with four first-place finishes in his eight to ten age group with Justin Corday holding down second.

Trey Simons has also won all of his races after moving up into the 11-12 age group. He kicked off the 2005 series by breaking the record in January?s Botanical Gardens race.

Peter Merritt has also performed consistently and will be aiming to secure second place.

Meanwhile, the boys? 13-15 category remains competitive with Aaron Evans, Matthew Spring and Dorian Armstrong all in contention.

As was the case last year, the talented Kerri Furbert leads the girls? 8-10 group with Jasmine Outerbridge a close second and Megan Berry in third.

Younger talents Rachel Fox and Kyla Bolden will also be looking to share some of the silverware and perhaps dominate next year as the older girls move up an age group.

Rebecca Heyliger has shown superb form in the girls? 11-12 division where she remains the favourite to take overall honours. Carys Pinches is in third place and separates the Eberly twins, Michaela and Myrtia, who are in second and fourth respectively.

In the girls? 13-15 group, Ashley Berry is determined to run the Pacers event to ensure victory in her new age division.

Berry, arguably the Island?s fastest 13-year-old middle distance runner, lost a possible 25 points in one of the races due to a marshalling mix-up, but can regain top place in the final event.

Danlia Martin, Kayla Stowe and Ellen Briars will also be challenging in this group.

Competitors have to take part in at least four of the five races in order to qualify for the Series? top awards.
