World Cup team named
The 15 cricketers who will fly the national colours at next month's World Cup were finally unveiled this morning ? though with 90 percent of the players virtually picking themselves, there was very little in the way of surprises.
Irving Romaine will captain the team with wicket-keeper Dean Minors as his deputy, while the supremely talented 17-year-old all-rounder Malachi Jones will become one of the youngest players ever to participate in cricket's ultimate limited-over showpiece.
St. David's batsman OJ Pitcher, having missed the recently-concluded tour of Africa because of injury, has been included at the expense of Arthur Pitcher Jr. while another gifted youngster, Delyone Borden, is almost certain to claim the second spinner's berth in the first-choice XI in support of Dwayne Leverock.
Despite some indifferent performances in Kenya, Social Club seamer Kevin Hurdle has been included in the 15, although tall St. George's medium-pacer Ryan Steede misses out having not recovered in time from a niggling back injury.
