'You gain little from matches like this'
Winning last night was the be all and end all, but coach Kyle Lightbourne was prepared to admit afterwards that his charges would have liked a slightly tougher game.
From the moment Kwame Steede's goal went in after 30 seconds, it was clear the opening Digicel Cup game would be one-sided, and the former Coventry City striker was pleased Bermuda did not lose interest having gone in at the half 4-0 up.
"We weren't as sharp in the second half but they kept on going and trying to be aggressive despite how easy it was out there," he said.
"If I'm looking on the positive side of things, at least we got 90 minutes under our belts and got the blood flowing. Sometimes when you are playing against such a poor side it's very easy to relax and take your foot off the pedal ? but that's when things can start to go wrong and I think the guys did well to keep the tempo up.
"We expect a harder match against the Dominican Republic on Friday night, which is something we would probably prefer now that we are definitely through to the next round and we're under no pressure.
"You gain very little from matches like this one and though we scored six, I think we had easily enough chances to get into double figures.
"I thought both Domico Coddington and Kwame Steede had excellent games for us and Darius Cox at the back had a very solid game despite not being put under too much pressure.
"Now it's just a question of resting up, seeing how everybody feels tomorrow morning and going from there. Stevie Astwood's hamstring got a little tight in the first half and he had to come off ? so I don't know if he'll be fit for Friday ? and there were one or two other knocks that we'll have to assess.
"But overall I'm happy we've got through. The pitch didn't play as badly as we thought it might but against that standard of opposition any problems we had controlling the ball never really cost us."
