Young guns in tennis action
The Bank of Bermuda Foundation/ITF World Ranking Junior Tournament got underway with Bermudians taking on overseas competitors at the W.E.R Joell Stadium.
A number of top-ranked players have flown in to compete in the annual event, proving too much for even some of the strongest local players.
?We?ve had a great first day here at the tennis,? said David Lambert, one of the tournament?s organisers.
?The level of tennis is high. Some of our top juniors ran into some trouble today but they?re all in the doubles draw. One day of action has proved to be great exposure for our top juniors and we?ve had some great local support in the stands.?
Today both number one seeds in the U-18?s will be on court along with Island-Games bound David Thomas in the singles and Caitlin Gordon and Morgan Lightbourne in the doubles.
Cayla Cross, McKenzie Bean, John Masters, Matthew Sharpe and Charles Skater will also be in action.
