Youngsters to improve skills with US coach

The Indian Summer Basketball Club will hold its 6th annual "Skills and Drills" Summer Youth Basketball Camp from June 30th to July 4th at the Mt. St. Agnes Academy gym.

The Bank of Bermuda Ltd (Platinum Sponsor) and ACE Ltd are sponsors for this camp, which is open to boys and girls, aged ten through thirteen years of age and will be run from 9 am to 1 pm each day.

The camp offers professional instruction by Dwight Freeman, former assistant coach of men's basketball at the University of Miami, and Head Coach at Norfolk State University in Virginia.

Dwight will be assisted his wife Angie, who played college basketball and is a professional youth basketball coach, and Indian Summer Basketball coaches Tommy Johnson and Dane Commissiong, who coach middle school boys basketball at Saltus and MSA respectively.

"Over 300 kids have participated in Indian Summer Basketball programs since 2001," said camp director Dane Commissiong.

"The kids love it, and their parents love it.

"We are very grateful to Bank of Bermuda and ACE for their continued support of this youth development project."

Sign-up for the camp is on Saturday April 25th, 2008 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm at the MSA court yard on Washington Street in Hamilton.

The camp accommodates 50 kid and costs $135. A full Indian Summer basketball practice will be included.
