5K race deadline

Runners and walkers have until late tomorrow afternoon to sign up for this Sunday's Butterfield & Vallis 5K road race.

The event starts and finishes at Butterfield & Vallis on Woodlands Road and will for the first time be using the new chip timing system introduced to the Island last year by Stephen DeSilva and Bermuda Timing Systems.

A junior race for those under-12 will cover 2.7K and starts at 9 a.m.

The senior race starts at 9.30 a.m. and runners will head off followed by walkers.

The first 700 participants will get a t-shirt and goody bag and a medal if they complete the course.

All finishers will be able to enter their race number in a prize draw with top awards of an American Airlines ticket to the US and two cross-trainer bikes from Wheels Cycles.

Entry forms are available at Sportseller, Sports'R'Us and Butterfield & Vallis locations, or online where participants can receive a $5 reduction. The official deadline is 4.45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The race is promoted and organised by Butterfield & Vallis and the Bermuda Union of Teachers.

There will be late registration during number pick-up this Saturday between 10 a.m. and 12 noon. There will be no late registration on race day.
