Bermuda scare US and Canada

Bermuda's burgeoning lacrosse team gave the USA and Canada a scare in the recent Tri Nations Classic at Bailey's Bay Cricket Club.

But ultimately they succumbed to the strength of the superior teams losing to the USA 6-3 and Canada 7-4. The USA beat Canada 9-3 to scoop the 4th annual fall competition in the final.

Bermuda Lacrosse Association (BLA) president Michael Totman said: "Bermuda have proven they can now hang with the elite when it comes to lacrosse and it's only a matter of time before they capture their first championship."

After the tournament the BLA announced the creation of a female lacrosse club. The new club has five founding members and is looking to recruit players of all ages and skill levels. No previous experience is necessary with most of the equipment being provided.

The Bermuda under-19 team has eight roster spots open for next summer's ILF World Championships to be held in Coquitlam, Canada. They will compete against Finland, Germany, Scotland, South Korea and Wales from July 3-12.

The Bermuda Indoor Lacrosse League will hold its draft in January 2008. For more information on all of the above contact Michael Totman at BermudaLacrosse[AT]Yahoo.com
