Breaking news: Bermuda lose to Namibia

A batting collapse in which Bermuda lost four wickets for just 11 runs handed Namibia a 103-run victory in their InterContinental Cup match and all but ensured a sport in the final for the Southern African team.

Bermuda, seeking its second win in the tournament after doign well to bowl Namibia out for 153 on the third day, got off to a steady start with Jekon Edness and Stefan Kelly adding 39 for the second wicket when Kelly was stumped by Tobias Verwey off leg-spinner Jan-Berrie Burger for 18.

That triggered the collapse, with middle order stalwarts Chris Douglas, Irving Romaine and Lionel Cann all going for a combined three runs.

Stephen Outerbridge put up strong resistance, scoring 78, and put on 98 with Delyone Borden, who scored 15 runs off 99 balls. But after Burger bowled Outerbridge at 166-7, Bermuda could only limp to 195 all out, 104 short of the target.

Burger took 6 for 56, while offspinner Deon Kotze grabbed the other three wickets to fall on the final day.

Cricinfo said the win gave Namibia 20 points, pushing them to the top of the table on 102 points. Namibia have a game in hand, so do second-placed Kenya, who have 96 points. There's a mathematical possibility that Kenya and Ireland, on 72 points from five games, could move ahead of Namibia in the race to make it to the final in November.
