Bromby stays on course

Peter Bromby remained well on course to qualify for this summer's Olympic Games in Beijing, after placing fourth with crew Lee White in the opening race of the 2008 Star Worlds in Biscayne Bay, Florida yesterday.

Four-time Olympian Bromby (pictured, right with White) needs to finish no lower than fourth in the Olympic Class regatta in order to qualify for this summer's Games in China.

And yesterday the Bermudian's bid got off to a very promising start which has quickly catapulted him into fourth place in the overall points standings.

World number one Star Class skipper Mateusz Kusznierewicz currently leads the fleet after posting a bullet yesterday and he is closely trailed by American Mark Mendelblatt and Italian Diego Negri.

The above trio have all already qualified for this summer's Games, something Bromby will be fully aware of when racing resumes today off the shores of Coral Reef Yacht Club as he attempts to build on yesterday's strong showing.
