Cash boost for Island Games

Bermuda’s Island Games Association has been given $6,000 by the Bank of Butterfield which will be used to subsidise transportation and accommodation next year in Rhodes.

With Bermuda set to be represented in 14 different sports on the Greek island next summer, the cost of competing will be higher than ever — a fact not lost on Bermuda Island Games Association general secretary Jon Gazzard.

“Bermuda will have approximately 200 competitors going from June 30 to July 6, 2007, from a whole range of sports,” he said. “With that comes greater costs and the money given to us by the Bank of Butterfield is a big help to us.”
