Divison One leaders Ireland Rangers travelled the distance of the Island yesterday and returned to the West End with maximum points from their match against St. George’s Colts at Wellington Oval.
With their hopes high on returning to top-flight football after being relegated in the Premier Division last season, Rangers have impressed in the first half of the season and are already favoured to grab one of the two promotion spots.
Yesterday they brushed aside St. George’s Colts with yet another solid display with top goal-scorer Henry Santucci adding to his season tally while further goals came from Tafari Mallory and Lamaul Weeks. Young Richard Dickinson was the lone scorer for the East Enders.
Devonshire Colts 5
Wolves 0
Wolves, who entered the contest at Police field in second place, suffered an embarrassing defeat against Devonshire Colts who were in third place prior to kick-off.
Colts, also keen to return to Premier Division play after being relegated the previous season, dominated throughout and deserved their emphatic win.
Leading the goal-spree was Ryan Pernell with a hat-trick while Colts also got further goals from Jordon Commissiong and Aljame Zuill.
Southampton Rangers 4
Prospect 1<$>
At Southampton Oval, home side Rangers easily dealt with Prospect, with Dawud Tucker scoring a hat-trick and Jomar Charles getting the other goal. Quinton Francis got the lone strike for Prospect.
Social Club 0
Hamilton Parish 3<$>
Social Club suffered the indignity of losing to the team with the worst record in local football, falling badly to Parish in this match-up at Bernard Park.
The three points enabled Parish to draw level with Social on points, but the latter still have the superior goal difference.
Scoring for Parish were Alvin Baker, Shawn Dill and Dwayne Tavares.
