First win for Angus
Angus Lang blew away the field on the way to being crowned overall winner of the 24th Annual Glidden Bowl under sunny skies at Belmont Hills.
The 16-year-old golfer attends school in the UK. He beat nearest rival Alex Osborne by five shots, despite wobbling down the stretch.
Lang (226) opened up a sizeable lead after rolling in a third birdie of the day on the back nine to go to three under for the round. A three-over-par 73 placed him well beyond the reach of Osborne (231) who shot a five over 75. Damian Palanyandi (233) came in at seven-over-par 77 to finish third.
For Lang, yesterday's victory was his first in the 15 and Over division.
"Overall, I'm pleased to put three decent rounds together. And it feels good to win," he said.
Entering the final round with a healthy three-shot lead, Lang distanced himself further away from the rest of the field when he birdied the par four, second and par five, sixth holes to make the turn at two under.
He also birdied the par four, tenth before bogeys at 15 and 16 and a triple bogey at 18 saw Lang lose momentum coming in.
Tyler Balcombe (238) captured the 13 to 14 Glidden Bowl title by three shots over Ryan Benevides (241).
Ryan Roberts (252) finished third respectively after coming in at 18 over-par 88.
Braxton Stowe jr (147) won the 12 and Under Novice division while Anthony Faries (157) captured the 14 and Over Novice title.
