Khano's Revs book place in the final
Bermuda's Khano Smith and the New England Revolution prevailed over Carolina Railhawks in the semi-final of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup at Veterans Stadium, in New Britain, Connectcut.
New England Revolution defeated the Carolina Railhawks 2-1 after the game went into overtime on Tuesday night.
The Railhawks, from the first division in the United Soccer League (USL), took the lead during the sixth minute through player Anthony Maher's score.
The game was came to life in the 41st minute when Revolution's Avery John and Railhawks' David Stokes were both shown the yellow card.
And one minute later, Shalrie Joseph from the Revs and Connolly Ezodien from the Hawks were both ejected.
However, Rev's Jeff Larentowicz, scored the equalising goal with a low-diving header within the first-half stoppage time.
In the second half, the teams combatted unsuccessfully to bring an end to the stalemate. But in the 82nd minute, Stokes was sent off, leaving the Hawks with nine men to duke it out.
Normal time ended with the score at 1-1. Pat Noonan, for the Revs, received a pass from team-mate Adam Cristman and scored in the 94th minute to put them 2-1 ahead.
Smith had a few chances to put the Revolution up 3-1 but could not find his scoring boots.
Revs will now play in the 2007 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup championship against FC Dallas.
That match will be played on Wednesday, October 3 at Dallas' Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas and will be televised live by Fox Soccer Channel.
It will be the second time the Revs will have appeared in the championship after progressing to the final in 2001. Then Revs lost 2-1 to the to the LA Galaxy during overtime in Fullerton, California.
Dallas reached the final by beating Seattle Sounders of the USL-1 2-0 after extra-time.
