Lawyer tipped to take over as BCB secretary

Lawyer Charles Richardson has emerged as the favourite to succeeed Marc Wetherhill as Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) secretary on an interim basis, The Royal Gazette can reveal.

Cleveland cricketer Richardson is said to have received the full backing of BCB affiliates who have been asked to nominate a candidate.

The successful candidate will serve in Wetherhill's vacated post until the Board's next annual general meeting.

Wetherhill resigned as BCB secretary last month after four years' service as a Board executive.

"I did what I was doing in the best interest of cricket and was prepared to sacrifice my time doing that," Wetherhill stated after announcing his resignation.

Richardson is understood to have expressed an interest in the position, with his experience as a prominent lawyer being widely viewed as a potential asset to the Board.

"Charles is a professional possessing very good administrative skills that can best serve the Board in the secretary position," St.George's chairman Lewis Foggo stated.

"It goes without saying that Charles is a very talented individual with an equally good cricket background."
