Bermuda Basketball Association president Allen Walker said he was elated to have Cellular One come onboard as new title sponsors.

"We believe this new concept will be something extraordinary for both players, members of the public and those people looking for fun family entertainment", said Walker. "This league will really help to keep young people focused on positive activities as well as foster teamwork."

The league will comprise of ten teams that will play a total of nine games, for which admission will be free.

League administrator Kenny Simmons said he believed that the time was right to introduce a new format.

"Our aim is to put basketball in the minds of people on the Island", said Simmons. "The league will consist of teams representing their parish to create community support and to increase our fan base."

"Every week we will select a 'Vitamin Water' player of the week, sponsored by Barritts. Spectators will have the opportunity to win weekly prizes, raffles, giveaways, and participate in a $100 half-court shot, while children under the age of 12 will be able to win a new bicycle."
