Bermuda's interest in the doubles of the XL Open lasted little more than an hour yesterday.

The wild card pairing of Andy Bray and James Collieson were no match for last year's quarter-finalists, Nikita Kryvonos and Jan Vacek.

Not that they were expected to be, and the Bermudian team were far from embarrassed during their 6-2, 6-0 defeat.

That they managed to break their opponents in the first set says a lot about their character, given that they were 5-1 down at the time.

And a couple of good forehand winners, at least gave the home crowd something to shout about.

It was never likely to change the outcome though, and the second set was more clear cut, with Kryvonos and Vacek making quick work of their opponents.

In the day's other singles matches, Kryvonos came through a tough match against lucky loser David Martin to triumph 7-6, 7-6, and there were wins too for Israel's Harel Levy who beat Mariano Puerta 6-2, 6-3 and Franko Skugor who defeated Amercian Scott Lipsky 6-3, 6-2.
