Local pros do battle in 36-hole BPGA medal
The 36-Hole Medal golf tournament swings into action at Tucker's Point Club, in Tucker's Town, today.
Organised by the Bermuda Professional Golfers' Association (BPGA), the tournament features 12 local professionals including former European PGA Tour golfer and Senator Kim Swan.
Dwayne Gibson, Keith Smith and Paul Adams tee-off at 2 p.m.; Chris Smith, David James and Darriek Douglas at 2.10 p.m.; Dwayne Pearman, Kim Swan and Chaka DeSilva at 2.20 p.m. and David Boyce, Clevie Tucker and Cornell Bean at 2.30 p.m. The tournament concludes tomorrow.
Chaka DeSilva, assistant golf professional at Tucker's Point Club, said the standard of golf would be strong with most players club professionals.
"I imagine Kim Swan and Dwayne Pearman will be involved in Bermuda's World Cup qualifiers in October," said DeSilva who has been a professional since 2002.
"The BPGA have tried to organise one competition each month with the 36-hole Medal being one. Last year the BPGA didn't hold any matches due to re-organisation - but now we have a full schedule again."
