The health status of Bermuda cricketer OJ Pitcher remained unclear at press time last night.

The St. David’s Islander banged his head on the pitch while attempting a difficult catch off the bowling of Janeiro Tucker during the Bangladesh innings.

Pitcher was promptly attended to by medical staff and then whisked away by ambulance to the Port of Spain General Hospital for further treatment, accompanied by his mother and father.

“OJ went to take a catch and he bumped his head pretty hard on the ground in the process,” explained Bermuda skipper Irving Romaine.

“But he was conscious when he left the field. The doctors here take all precautions because in our warm-up match against England I had the same thing happen to me and I wasn’t allowed to play any more.”

Romaine received treatment for suspected minor concussion after taking an excellent catch against England in St. Vincent.

“I know that OJ could’ve walked off the field on his own,” the Bermuda skipper added. “And I know that he is going to be fine because he is a very tough guy.”
