Pearman and Swan fall six shots short
Bermuda's golf pairing of Dwayne Pearman and Kim Swan fell six shots short of reaching The Omega Hills World Cup, finishing tied in seventh place in the Aruba qualifier.
Pearman and Swan finished the 19-nation competition with a two-under-par 282 at The Tierra del Sol Trent Spa and CC yesterday. Only the top five duos qualified for the showpiece to be held in China next month, with a $5 million prize purse.
Bermuda's pair finished their fourth, and final, round of alternative shot foursomes with a three-over-par 74, including one birdie, 14 pars, two bogies and one double bogie. In Saturday's best-ball third round they shot a 70, with three birdies, 13 pars and two bogies.
Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Morales and Miguel Suárez won the qualifier, carding a final-day two-under par 69 to finish the week at 11-under par 273. Ireland's Michael Hoey and Gareth Maybin, carded a 71 to finish one stroke behind in second.
A best-of-the-day three-under par 68 vaulted Colombia's Gustavo Mendoza and Jorge Benedetti into third at nine-under par 275.
Italy and Paraguay were the other countries to make World Cup. The Tour de las Americas on behalf of the International Federation of PGA Tours conducted the Aruba qualifiers.
