Perozzi can be in world top three

Teresa Perozzi is set to return to the ring next month with a stream of super-fights against the biggest names in women's boxing to follow, according to her new US matchmakers.

Negotiations are underway for the NABC world champion to make her debut under Seconds To Go Boxing in a six-round bout in Bermuda against an unconfirmed opponent.

The 33-year-old recently signed with the New Jersey-based promoters after stunning president George Cuozzo during her devastating display against his client Asa Sandell last September.

Cuozzo believes the latest addition to his stable is embarking on an exciting new chapter of her career with a potential prize-purse title fight against Shelley Burton also on the cards.

"We're looking to open up with Teresa next month in Bermuda," said Cuozzo who has been involved in women's boxing for the last decade. "It won't be anything too major, as it will be her first fight with us and we want her to be comfortable.

"Then we're looking at a fight against Shelley Burton for the vacant WBC middleweight belt in the spring."

Before Perozzi can take women's boxing by storm, Cuozzo wants her to work with some of the finest conditioners and trainers so she can maximise her punching potential. He then believes there will be nothing to prevent Perozzi becoming one of the top three female boxers in the world.

"Teresa has terrific lower body strength and needs to co-ordinate that with her upper body," explained 53-year-old Cuozzo. "When she marries those together she'll be very dangerous.

"I don't think she needs to make any drastic changes, just refine certain aspects. Over the next three years she can become one the top three female boxers in the world, no doubt. I just feel she needs to be busier, that's the only way to keep your sharpness in this business.

"We need to sort out better training facilities for her in Bermuda. When she's in the US we also want her working with guys such former powerlifter Joe Carini who has done a lot of strength work with NFL star Tiki Barber."

One fighter Perozzi has been continuously linked with is much-lauded Russian brawler Natasha Ragosina who is undefeated in 16 fights. Cuozzo is adamant Perozzi possess the superior skills and can open up Ragosina's loss column if the pair locked horns at a neutral venue.

"There's a lot of big fights out there for Teresa. At the moment, in my opinion, the top girl is New Mexican Holly Holm, probably followed by Ragosina. I wouldn't even rule out Laila Ali making a return to boxing at some point.

"I certainly think Teresa has a style conducive for fighting Ragosina. If we can entice her to fight outside Germany, where she's based, and let them settle the issue then Teresa will beat her - no question."
