Red-hot Steede scores hat-trick again
Devonshire Cougars 3
Somerset Trojans 1
Inspirational skipper Kwame Steede plundered his second consecutive hat-trick to lead impressive Cougars to victory over Somerset Trojans in the Martonmere Cup.
Steede's phenomenal performance follows on from his virtuoso display in the Charity Cup, with the Bermuda Hogges' captain starting his season in sizzling form.
The 27-year-old put Cougars ahead in the 15th minute, outpacing the Trojans' defence before sliding the ball home through Keeper Timmy Figuerido's legs. In the 24th minute Steede doubled the advantage, beating Figuerido again after excellent work by Raymond Beach on the left flank.
Cougars' defender Ijahmon Mallory then threw Trojans a lifeline after he headed Jabrel Tucker's cross into his own net, but Steede notched his sixth goal of the season in the 73rd minute.
