Robinson and Pimental remembered in race finale
Tributes will be paid in memory of late motorcycle racing champions Marvin (Skinny) Robinson and Kyle Pimental when Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club (BMRC) stage their final race day of the 2007 schedule on Sunday at Bermuda Motorsports Park in St.David’s.
Defending 600cc champion Robinson died from internal injuries sustained while warming up for a race at the Clearwater race track last May while two months later 125cc B Class champion Pimental lost a battle with cancer.
“It’s been a very emotional year for all of us. Both riders were loved by the community as a whole and are sadly missed,” BMRC president David Jones stated. “And tributes will be paid in their memory.”
This weekend will see the GP 70cc and Mini Bike Open and Junior titles go up for grabs, while race fans will also be treated to Go Karting races and various demonstrations by Bermuda Remote Control Car Association and local stunt group Loyal Hill BMX Riders.
The Scooter, 600cc and GP 125cc classes have already been decided.
The event, sponsored by Cycle Care, kicks off at 1 p.m. and will be followed by a post-race party at nearby Gombeys.
Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for kids.
