Struggling Big Cats look to get back on track . . .
Premier Division champions Devonshire Cougars will look to put an end to a two-game losing skid and advance to a second straight Martonmere Cup final when they host Dandy Town tonight at the Den.
The Big Cats face the unpredictable Hornets in the second match of a Martonmere Cup semi-final double-header, with last year's beaten finalists PHC Zebras taking on out-of-touch Somerset Trojans in the curtain raiser.
Cougars' shock 2-1 loss to the Zebras at the Den on Sunday would not have done their confidence the world of good ahead of tonight's crucial cup clash.
But according to team sources, Cougars are not about to push the panic button and are confident they can stop the rot and return to winning ways against the rebuilding Hornets.
"We are not worried about what's happend in the past because that is now behind us," one team official said. "That's just life and we have to now pick ourselves up and get things back on track.
"We know Dandy Town are looking to get themselves in a final. And what better team to eliminate than the champions. So it should be interesting."
Cougars, who topped Group A during the Martonmere Cup round robin phase, will also try to avoid the humiliation of losing three matches on the trot on home soil
"Three straight losses at home is a hard pill to swallow and so we have everything to play for," the Cougars official added.
Zebras, last year's Martonmere Cup runners-up to Cougars, will take on a shaky Trojans side bubbling with confidence after celebrating a first win against the Big Cats with coach Kyle Lightbourne at the helm.
PHC topped Group B during the Martonmere Cup group stage, drawing 0-0 with Village and then edging Hornets 2-1 last week to set up a semi final showdown with perennial rivals Trojans who have yet to pick up a first win of the season.
