Team wants Martonmere clash rescheduled
Boulevard Community Club officials met with Bermuda Football Association (BFA) during a special meeting last night over the possibility of having their September 22 Martonmere Cup clash with cup holders Devonshire Cougars at BAA Field rescheduled.
Having been hard hit during the off-season transfer period with an exodus of players and then the tragic death of team skipper Shaki Crockwell last month, Boulevard top brass have requested additional time to allow their players to mentally prepare themselves for their first outing of the season against the Big Cats.
"Basically we are trying to push it back another week and a half to try and get the guys more mentally prepared because time heals all wounds," stated Blazers coach John Rebello last night.
It had been rumored yesterday that Blazers were seeking to withdraw from the tournament altogether. However, BFA president Larry Mussenden- who attended last night's meeting - promptly put those rumors to rest.
"We met and I am happy to confirm that Boulevard are in the Martonmere Cup competition," he said. "And if there is any other information that has to be released we will do so accordingly because we are not at liberty to discuss any further details at this time.
"A number of issues were discussed during the meeting, but we have to give due recourse to a number of entities first before we can go public on the matter."
