Two cricketers secure top 100 world rankings
Two of Bermuda's players are listed in the world's top 100 in the latest One-Day International individual rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) yesterday.
Skipper Irving Romaine is ranked 93rd among ODI batsmen while spinner Dwayne Leverock has crept in at number 99 on the list of leading bowlers.
As would be expected, players from the top Test nations dominate the rankings with Australia's Mike Hussey currently rated the world's number ODI batsman followed by England's Kevin Pietersen and Australia's Ricky Ponting.
South Africa's Shawn Pollock holds down the top spot among bowlers with Glenn McGrath of Australia and Daniel Vettori of New Zealand ranked two and three.
But with teams like Bermuda now playing more ODIs than ever before, a number of Associate nation players are featured in the rankings.
Leading Associate batsman is Kenya captain Steve Tikolo who is ranked 62nd while team-mate Tamray Mishra is listed at 82 with Kenyan Thomas Odoyo and Holland's Ryan ten Doeschate tied for 84th.
Scotland's Ryan Watson is 86th leaving Romaine at 93 as sixth best among all of the Associate countries.
Kenya's Peter Ongondo, who snapped up three wickets against Bermuda in last Monday's 10-wicket victory, is rated 39th in the top 100 bowlers while Tikolo is 63rd and compatriots Collin Obuya amd Hiren Varaiya 89th and 95th respectively.
At 99, Leverock - just one place below master batsman Sachin Tendulkar in the bowling stats - is fifth among the Associate nations.
