'We can go all the way' says Key West coach
Having been thrown a lif-line in the FA Cup, a delighted Key West Rangers coach Armell Thomas now feels his team have the experience, depth and skill to go all the way in the prestigious competition.
After learning of Trojans' fate, Thomas, himself a former Somerset player, boldly declared: "It doesn't matter who we get in the next round because I'm confident we can go all the way and become the first Commercial team to win the FA Cup.
"Obviously we are glad about the decision and to be quite honest we should've beaten Somerset. But unfortunately on the day we had a few injuries," he said.
Having received a reprieve, Thomas said one of his team's main objectives now would be to work on their fitness level in preparation for their next opponents who will be determined when the BFA stage the draw.
"Everybody is back healthy and so now we can focus on our fitness because we already have the experience, skill and players," he added.
With the exception of Robin Hood, no other Commercial team have made it past the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
But Thomas is determined to make history.
"Football has gone back in recent years and so we really don't care who we get," he declared.
"We aren't really concerned about who we get because if we show up on the day prepared to play then our chances will be just as good as anybody else's.
"We have been given a second life and so now we intend to make the most of it."
Somerset officials declined to comment yesterday.
