We need a foreign technical director

Losing 6-0 to Cuba and drawing with the Cayman Islands 0-0 should finally confirm what many have known for some time, i.e. that Kenny Thompson is a solid trainer, with tons of drills, but seriously lacking the tactical aptitude to manage successfully in the international arena.

Dear Sir,

Losing 6-0 to Cuba and drawing with the Cayman Islands 0-0 should finally confirm what many have known for some time, i.e. that Kenny Thompson is a solid trainer, with tons of drills, but seriously lacking the tactical aptitude to manage successfully in the international arena.

The BFA need to appoint a qualified and experienced winner asap and the people of this country should demand that our funds, allocated by our government to the BFA, be witheld until such time as a competent foreign technical director is selected.

Once again the BFA have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on travelling national teams without success. Losing to Cuba is not new, however losing 6-0 is depressing. Drawing 0-0 with the Cayman Islands is cause for even greater concern as it is proof positive that we have regressed, particularly as we have enjoyed considerable success when competing against this footballing minnow over the past decade.

Our under-23 team has been together for months, training four days a week, sometimes twice a day. Their coach publically praised their dedication and commitment. Therefore, if the problem isn't a lack of talent and commitment and if we agree that their many football ventures abroad and significant usage of the national sports complex for training is a plus, than we must conclude that the person in charge of this group has failed.

In most jobs, to include the sporting environment, that person is terminated. This tried and tested process appears logical to me. Hint hint.

In an attempt to be fair and balanced, I have to applaud the FA for sending seven of their executive members to Switzerland this summer to participate in the opening of FIFA's new offices. Glad to see that our money is being spent ever so wisely.

Stop Press. Bermuda loses to baseball/boxing giants Puerto Rico 2-0, who recently lost to Cuba 8-0. How's that for perspective?
