West gets an eighth place in Florida
Bermudian golfer Eric West got into the prize money with an eighth place finish in the NGA Hooters Pro Golf Tournament at Ocoee in Florida.
He finished the three-round competition one-under par after carding a 71, 73, 71 on the par-72 course.
The 24-year-old's result, which brought $933 of prize cash, was commendable taking into account that West broke his wrist late last year and this was his first tournament back.
At the Forest Lake Golf Course, West had a great first round, which included one eagle and four birdies. The second day brought three more birdies but also a double bogey and on day three he managed four birdies.
But it was a mixed tournament for West as in between his good holes he dropped a number of bogeys that kept his score higher than it might have been.
"The course was not overly demanding, although the last five holes were tough and into the wind," West said.
He will takepart in two more of the winter series events before heading for the Guatemala Invitational between February 25 and March 3.
