Breaking news: Gayle to lead West Indies in Toronto

West Indies' Christopher Gayle

West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) have announced a 14-member squad that will compete against ICC Associates Bermuda and Canada in a triangular series in Toronto next week.

The Windies face off against Bermuda next Wednesday at the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in King’s City before taking on hosts Canada at the same venue two days later.

In a startling turn around of events, Jamaican batsman Chris Gayle will continue duties as Windies captain just weeks after tendering his letter of resignation.

Unavailable for next week’s tour are star batsman Shivarine Chanderpaul, who toured Bermuda in the early 1990s with a second string West Indies squad as a teenager, and exciting all-rounder Dywane Bravo who has been ruled out through injury.

The West Indies are due to depart for Toronto tomorrow.

Bermuda, meanwhile, have yet to name their squad and are due to arrive in Toronto on Sunday.

West Indies: Chris Gayle (capt), Carlton Baugh, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Fidel Edwards, Shawn Findlay, Leon Johnson, Xaxier Marshall, Nikita Miller, Dave Mohammed, Brendan Nash, Daren Powell, Kemar Roach, Ramnerash Sarwan, Jerome Taylor.
