Glasford to attend scorers' course in Canada

Cricket scorer Michael Glasford has been selected to attend the ICC Americas Regional Scoring Course in Toronto, Canada, the Bermuda Cricket Board announced yesterday.

The programme will be held this weekend and is designed for scorers aiming for The Association of Cricket Umpires and Scorers (ACUS) accreditation.

The BCB was allowed to nominate one representative to participate with Mr. Glasford chosen due to the length of his scoring career, which began in 1968, and his international experience. He was not available to take part in the ACUS course the BCB ran earlier this year.

Reginald Pearman, president of the BCB, said the board was excited and pleased Mr. Glasford had been given the opportunity to attend the Regional Scoring Course.

"He takes with him a wealth of scoring experience and is highly regarded in his field," he said. "In April, 2007, the BCB ran an ACUS accredited course for introductory and intermediate scorers which proved very popular among officials.

"This course is just part of the BCB's continuing commitment to increasing the educational opportunities and qualifications for officials in Bermuda."

The art of scoring comes under director of cricket development Arnold Manders' "Building the pathway for the stars of tomorrow" manifesto.
