Triple bogey at 13th is unlucky for Sims
A disastrous triple bogey seven on the par-four 13th hole dashed Michael Sims’ hopes of making the cut at the Nationwide Tour Chitimacha Louisiana Open yesterday.
Sims appeared to be in great shape after a two-under-par first round of 69 at the 7,004-yard Le Triomphe Country Club course in Broussard.
But despite posting four birdies in yesterday’s rollercoaster round, a double bogey on the par-four fourth and a triple at the 13th undid all of his good work.
He also bogeyed the eighth and ninth.
Sims had started the day in a tie for 33rd but by the end of his round had plummeted into a tie for 93rd.
His three-over 74 in yesterday’s round, which included birdies at the second, seventh, 11th and 18th, left him at one-over after 36 holes on 143.
Skip Kendall leads the tournament after shooting identical five-under-par rounds of 66 for a 132 total.
